DEEP FRIED

DEEP FRIED combines the queer coming of age of Naoise Dolan’s Exciting Times with the messy drama of Diana Reid’s Love & Virtue and will have booktok girlies who love The Secret History arguing over who was right and who was wrong.

Set in 1995, VAL, a 22-year-old disillusioned diner waitress, who hates customers as much as the boys who hit on her at parties, moves to rural Oregon for a “second chance” college program where she becomes infatuated with six misfits who work at the local diner.

But drunken weekends away in the woods, sex, lies, secrets, and resentments cause the friends to implode. VAL must reconcile her longing for chaos to save herself, her love, her friendships, and someone’s life.

DEEP FRIED is completed and will go on submission by 2027.
